Machine won't start, keeps saying stall warning.
If your machine won't start, and the ESCx is reporting stall warning. Attempt to recalibrate the machine using a cartridge with a resistance equal to the cartridges that you will be tattooing with. If you allow the ESCx to timeout while waiting for a calibration cartridge, it will automatically attempt to run a calibration using a standard cartridge. If the problem persists you can try disabling this feature in the machine settings menu.
Is there an easier way to switch the active output port?
Yes, from the main run screen you can press and hole the menu button and it will toggle between the available ports.
Is there an easier way to switch machine banks?
Yes! After version 1.15.0-r you can now press and hold the select/preset button from the home screen to quickly access the machine banks selection screen.
Is there an easy way to switch between ESCx and VDC modes?
Yes, press and hold the start/stop button from the main run screen to toggle between ESCx and VDC modes of operation.
Why does it say "Wrong/No machine" when I try to start my machine?
My ESCx won't turn back on after going to sleep.
This issue effected a small batch of ESCx power supplies and was fully patched after firmware version 1.14.1-r. To resolve perform a firmware update using the ESCx Control App.
ESCx mode is not working with brushless machines.
When using ESCx mode on a brushless machine the voltage will not adjust. This is due to the fact brushless motors have their own motor control circuitry onboard that will handle speed control. You will get an accurate Hz/CPS reading from your brushless machines when using the ESCx as well as have the ability to set a speed and allow the ESCx to determine correct voltage.
Calibrating an unknown machine, how do I know if it is brushed or brushless.
If you do not know they type of motor that is in your tattoo machine, here is a quick test you can attempt. Try to calibrate as a brushed type first, if the ESCx calibration fails the resistance step the machine is most likely a brushless.
Do I have to use the calibration cartridge?
Short answer is most of the time no. We would recommend that you calibrate with a cartridge that has the membrane resistance that matches what you will be using while you are tattooing. This will allow the ESCx to learn an appropriate start voltage. However if a machine is giving difficulty calibrating it may be necessary to use the calibration cartridge, to assist the ESCx in gathering the information it needs.
Why do I need to calibrate my machine?
Calibration is required for several reasons. The most important being to allow the ESCx to fine tune to the specific machine that is attached. This allows our Hz readouts to be extremely accurate across the multiple types of machines and motors available in modern tattoing tools.
What is the vmax?
Do I have to use the calibration cartridge with coil machine?
Coil machines do not require calibration cartridges and you will not be prompted for one when the calibration begins. Simply calibrate the machine with a needle bar or nothing attached to the armature bar.
Where do I find my serial number and UUID?
The serial number is located on the back of the ESCx and is also available in the "Device Info" menu page along with the devices UUID (universally unique identifier).
Why do I need to register my device?
Simple, for security. Wireless control of a tattoo machine is no laughing matter. Registering your device ensures that you and only you can establish and authenticate a wireless connection to your ESCx power supply.
Where do I register my device?
Once logged in to your account, you can register your device at My Tattcom->Device Registration
For assistance locating your SN and UUID refer to the faq below.
I get an error when trying to connect to the mobile app
If you see the folloing error you need to register your device in the My Tattcom section of our website.
When I try to connect to the ESCx nothing happens
Go to your phones bluetooth menu and locate the paired ESCx, delete or forget the deivce. Return to the app and reconnect, make sure to confirm the pairing request by pressing the "UP" button on the ESCx, see picture below.
I can't change accounts in the ESCx Control app, it just keeps signing into the same one.
If you logout of your account in the mobile app, and when you click login to use another account you are signed back into the account you just logged out of. Clear your devices web browser cache to solve this problem.
How do I update the ESCx firmware?
Connect to the ESCx with the ESCx Control app, once connected select the "Update Firmware" option from the Settings Menu. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the update. Ensure your phone and the ESCx power supply have reliable power to complete the update, do not exit or close the ESCx control app while the update is running, if the firmware update is interrupted the ESCx will not power back on until it is restored this is normal.
The firmware update was interrupted, now my device won't power on
Whats changed on the ESCx firmwares?
